Cyber Security & ID Theft Protection Show All Workshops
Imagine sitting at your computer when suddenly the screen displays a message explaining all your data has been encrypted and the only way to recover it is to pay an anonymous hacker $1000 in BitCoin. Now imagine checking your computer to determine it works fine but all your documents, photos, videos, drawings, credit card transactions, checking/banking information, music, legal forms, tax returns, ... you name it, are all gone! Do you pay to get it back? What if you go through the trouble to send the money as a BitCoin but never hear anything back? This happens every day.
Not only does it happen to individuals who may be careless with their web-browsing habits, it happens to businesses --banks, manufacturers, service companies, and so on, resulting in billions, with a B, of ransom payments each year, and the incidents are increasing significantly. If you are not familiar with using anti-malware software and/or the terminology and methods make little sense to you, this workshop will help you get it straight and give you the knowledge to start building those layers of defense necessary to protect yourself, your accounts, your credit, —all your data, from those trying to steal it.
